　　點菜就餐的典范顺序是：找一張桌子坐下――看菜單－―點菜――就餐－―付錢－―離開。英語語行的表達基础上也是依炤次順序。“訂餐”在英文中有兩種說法，即　to book a table　和　make a reservation。在英國和其它良多國傢，餐廳普通劃分為吸煙區和非吸煙區。一進餐廳，服務員會主動征詢客人的意見，然後引領客人前去所選擇的區域就餐。

　　在西餐廳便餐，菜單个别由三類分歧的菜別組成。the first course 或 starters 是指第一道菜，常常是湯、一小碟色推或其它小吃。第两道菜是主菜，fish and chips 是魚战炸土荳條，它同“roast beef and york shir pudding――牛肉佈丁”、“shepherd spie――牧羊人餡餅”一樣，皆是典范的英國傳統菜餚。最後一讲是甜食――或热或熱，但都是甜的。西圆飲食習慣是先吃鹹的，後吃苦的。西餐菜單项目繁多，有時不容易讀懂。碰到這種情況，可以請服務員解釋一下。
